From what has been hinted at in the daily press and elsewhere, it looks as though the American double-bottom practice — two semi-trailers linked by a dolly and hauled by a tractive unit — might win favour as an answer to heavy vehicles being used for urban deliveries. It was interesting to note from past records that York demonstrated a doublebottom outfit during 1967 and which appeared in the columns of Commercial Motor for June 9 of that year in an article written by R. P. A. F. Williams.
