Christopher Coleman, who trades as C M Haulage of Talywin, Gwent has been given until November to settle unpaid fines and to get his business on an even keel.
Coleman told South Wales LA John Mervyn Pugh he had not petitioned for bankruptcy and that his accountant had made agreements for payments by instalment to be made to his creditors. Confirming those arrangements, chartered accountant William Price said he had been associated with Coleman since February. Coleman had several units and trailers and he was now in a position to negotiate their sale, which should realise some assets.
Mervyn Pugh said that the non-payment of fines threw doubt on the financial standing of any operator. He could not accept the payment of fines by instalment as they were a penally and not a commercial debt. Unless the fines had been paid in Full by November, he would have to revoke the licence.
Cutting the authorisation on the licence to the one vehicle and three trailers in possession, Mervyn Pugh said he had done the ultimate he could to help but there was a limit.
