The 480hp-engined Stralises mark a move away from the firm's traditional vehicle suppliers — Volvo and Scani a.
Managing director Peter Simpson explains that lveco's package was considerably better than those offered by its rivals: overall it came in 15% cheaper.
The vehicles have been bought outright with a five-year repair and maintenance package and a guaranteed buy-back price.
Simpson adds: "Our key driver for this was the upfront price and the resale price we were offered. Both were very competitive.
"Volvo and Scania seem complacent," he concludes."Their prices tell you that."
The firm opted for Euro-3 models to "heat the confusion of AdBlue", Simpson reports. The service from local Iveco dealer North East Truck & Van also helped to swing the deal, he says.
The vehicles will run doubleshifted on a mixture of trunking and local work.
