And with the plethora of launches during the past year this will he one of the tightest elections ever.

In fact, the competition is so close that we have taken the unprecedented step of gathering all the contenders together for a head-to-head shoot-out to decide which one we should be voting for.
During the past year, van launches have come thick and fast as all the light CV manufacturers prepared for Euro-4 emissions and took the opportunity to revamp their product line-ups.
One product The UK's CV Show in April marked the start of the major launches with the FordTransit, Mercedes Sprinter and Volkswagen Crafter all debuting at the NEC. Iveco's Daily followed at the beginning ofJune; the revised Sevel (Fiat Ducat°, Citroen Relay and Peugeot Boxer) arrived in July. For the purposes of this competition, the jury treated the Sevel line-up as one product.
Commercial Motor has already tested many of the candidates, but our deliberations were facilitated by a full day's intensive comparison on the test track at Chobham,Surrey, and on the surrounding roads. •
The UK jury member is Andy Salter, cm's editor; he is one of a team of 19 senior transport journalists, all of whom have a wealth of experience in the light CV sector. The other countries represented are: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Russia, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.
Each jury member has 12 votes to cast and no more than seven votes may be allocated to any one vehcle. All votes are cast in secret and collated by an ,ndependent referee at the International Road Transport Union (IRU) in Geneva.
The result will be made public at a ceremony in Hanover on 19 September.
