range has impressed everyone who has driven it. Although it shares group technology with Renault, the Volvo incarnation has been restyled, for the better, and serves as a strong stablemate to the FM and FH ranges of heavies. The latest FL uses an engine developed jointly with Deutz and shared with Renault (in the Midlum). Performance from this motor is strong, although noise levels are a little high.
VERDICT The FL's a good bet for a top-three finish, but its unlikely to make it above the bronze award.
