• Kirkby-based Brimargin International Transport's owner, Brian Hunt, had the ength of his licence cut when the fraffic Commissioner learnt the firm neither owned a vehicle or employed an effective transport manager.
Vehicle examiner Eric Bober said Hunt had one vehicle and trailer when he last visited. The vehicle was not available to be examined as it had been involved in an accident and was being repaired. He examined the trailer and issued an immediate prohibition for a defective tyre.

But Hunt said that he did not own a vehicle at that time, the trailer inspected had been in the yard for more than a month and he had no intention of operating it. He wanted to acquire a new vehicle and employ a driver.
Hunt admitted his transport manager was not fulfilling his job title as he did not inspect tachograph charts.
Albu pointed out that the law stated that the there had to be a transport manager responsible for the day-to-day running of the business, who had effective responsibility.
Albu cut the licence to expire at the end of next February.
