Gunman escapes with E800k load

HERTFORDSHIRE POLICE are hunting a man who hijacked a truck driver at gunpoint before making off with his £800,000 load of electrical goods.
The incident happened at around 7am on 1 April in St Albans. The driver had just left his depot en route to Tottenham Court Road in London. As he arrived at the junction with Hatfield Road and Acrewood Way an armed man opened the passenger door and jumped into the cab. The offender threatened the driver and ordered him to drive on to the M25.
He was told to continue towards J26 and park in a lay-by at LoughtonServices.At this point the driver was ordered into the back of his cab. A second offender jumped into the truck and it was driven for about 45 minutes to an unknown location where it was unloaded. The truck was then driven around for another hour before it stopped at Honey Pot Lane, Stanmore and both men ran off The driver then raised the alarm.
Detective Sergeant Eddie Edwards says: "This was a wellplanned crime, executed with perfect timing.
