A COMPANY which used a farm vehicle and trailer to transport plant machinery has been hit with fines and costs of £1,640.
David Andrew Jones and John Colin Jones, trading as Jones Bros, of Leeswood, near Mold, admitted using the agricultural tractor and trailer without an 0-licence or insurance, and causing a person to drive who did not hold the appropriate driving licence.
Magistrates heard that on 2 September a traffic examiner had spotted an agricultural tractor pulling a two-aided drawbar trailer laden with a JCB machine.
Driver Michael Morgan had said he was travelling from Leeswood to Macclesfield to deliver the JCB to a school where the firm was carrying out an earthmoving contract for Cheshire County Council.
An examination of the tractor had revealed that it had a maximum gross weight of 19,000kg; Morgan had admitted that he did not hold a HGV driving licence.
John Colin Jones said the partners did not realise any offences had been committed.
Morgan was fined £130 for using the tractor without insurance or an HGV driving licence. His driving licence was endorsed with six penalty points and he was ordered to pay £70 costs..The Jones brothers were each fined £750 with £70 costs.
