• Traffic examiners have been ordered to be "more receptive to the reasonable requests of drivers" when they ask for a reweigh after being found to be overloaded.
Vehicle Inspectorate chief executive Ron Oliver says his weighbridge operators wilt continue to allow drivers a second weigh Where it is "considered justified and safe. Sensibly handled, the right to a second weigh should not be an issue."
