At present there are approximately .20 motorbuses engaged in inter-urban services in the Madeira Islands, and these are used to connect eight neighbouring villages with Funchal as a central point. The services have shown a healthy. development and several new routes have been opened during the past year. -.There are, only 80 miles of road on the island which are suitable for use by motor vehicles, and more than one-half of this distance is already
covered by bus lines.
