• An increased demand for export panel vans has led Leyland Daf to create 200 new jobs at its Birmingham assembly plant.
Exports to the Continent doubled last year to 6,000 units with the success of the 200 and 400 Series, largely due to Daf's 500 European truck outlets. The Birmingham plant will be able to produce more than 600 vans a week once the new workers have been taken on for a nightshift. The plant is currently working on singleshift producing 500 vehicles each week.
