THE BRITISH VEHICLE Rental and Leasing Association (BVRLA) is introducing an annual independent maintenance and service audit for its commercial vehicle members.
The organisation: which is a trade body for companies involved in the leasing and rental of cars and commercial vehicles, previously
had checking arrangements over longer time periods in place with its members.
This audit will be carried out by CARS QA a UKAS-approved assessment certification and inspection body specialising in the automotive industry.
BVRLA spokesman Toby Poston says: "In response to Vosa guidelines, we now guarantee that all our members will be checked on an annual basis.
"Although the 0-licence holder is still legally responsible for the maintenance of a vehicle, this move should offer more assurance."
Nigel Martin. director of commercial vehicle rental sales at Ryder, says: "This added peace of mind gives transport companies yet another good reason to rent or lease their vehicles."
