London haulage owner-drif was ordered to pay a total £350, last week, when he is found guilty on 16 charges lating to EEC drivers' hours les and records offences.
Thomas Dinmore, of Peckm, pleaded not guilty to yen charges of making false tries in his record book; yen of failing to take eight lurs' rest in 24 hours; one arge of failing to carry a • ntrol hook and another of iling to keep a register of drivers' control books.
Mr Dinmore's logbook showed he had completed journeys from London to Dover and Dover to London when he was stopped at Folkestone. In fact, he had been to Boulogne, the court was told.
During the trip, he was carrying a load of fresh fruit; he claimed he did not know about drivers' control hooks.
Magistrate Kenneth Cooke told Mr Dinmore it was important that drivers should have the proper rest periods in the interests of safety.
Mr Dinmore was found guilty on 14 charges of making false entries in the record book and failing to take proper rest periods. He was fined £20 on each charge; £15 for failing to carry a control book and £5 for not keeping a register of drivers' records books. And he was ordered to pay E50 court costs.
