JENKINSONS International Ltd has had this DAV 2300 fitted with an Airshield air wind deflector and a road speed governor in a bid to gain the maximum benefits of reduced fuel consumption. The Airshield is claimed to reduce air drag by half while the speed limiter from Bolton manufacturer Transport Efficiency Ltd has been designed to restrict the engine rpm in the highest gear only and does not impair the vehicle's _performance in any of the lower gears.
However the device designed to operate from either the gearbox or tachograph should be set to give a higher road speed than is possible in any of the lower gears.
Claims of reduced engine transmission and brake wear are made when both devices are used together; fuel savings in excess of 20 per cent can be expected.
The speed limiter is currently being evaluated by a number of large fleet operators including Air Products, Downson Freight and NEBRS.
