A West Midlands firm sent a driver on a delivery round in a lorry without Operator's Licence authorisation or a working tachograph. The trip cost Microtech of Dudley Road East, Oldbury, 1300 with £65 costs at West Bromwich magistrates court.
The firm was charged with failing to have an 0-licence and failing to put a chart in the lorry's tachograph.
No plea was received from the firm; the charges were proved in its absence, Malcolm Seward, prosecuting for the Vehicle Inspectorate, said the offences were discovered when the 7.5-tonne Leyland Daf was checked at a Perry Barr car park off the M6 near BIN mingham last November.
The driver, Dominica Layanti, told inspectors that he had been given no Instructions about using a tachograph and that he had simply been cmPlaYed bY Microtech to deliver threepiece suites to a dealer.
