• Mercedes-Benz and Volvo have joined the list of manufacturers producing engines eligible for 11,000 VED rebates without additional hardware. Reduced Pollution Certificates (RPCs) have new been issued to the Actros with the V6 engine rated at 350, 400 and 430hp; and to Volvo's 340, 380 and 420hp D12C engines as fitted to FM12 and FH12 models since December1998.
Existing operators of most of these models will also be eligible for the rebates.
The Actros models mentioned above are expected to qualify for an RPC without further modification. The Volvo 340 and 380 engines will need to be taken to a dealer for reprogramming of the EDC unit— Volvo expects this service to be available within two months.
• Scania's range of RPC-eligible engines has now been extended to 340, 380 and 420hp versions.
