In terms of the diffenng pay rates between artic and rigid drivers the RHA/IDS survey shows about a 50p difference between the two, with artic drivers averaging £7.06/hour and rigid drivers earning an average of £.6.52/hour. Separate figures from the Freight Transport Association place pay rates for drivers of light rigids at an average of £242.11 per week or £6.44 per hour, rising to £298.36 per week or £6.92 per hour. If bonuses, productivity and overtime are also factored in then the light rigid driver's pay rises to £313.48 and the artic drivers to £406.33 with drivers of other sized vehicles between the two extremes. Averaged out, the FTA figures show a pay rate of £257.97 per week or £6.20 per hour, slightly below the RHA/IDS figures.
