I T was announced in Montreal on Monday that an agreement had been reached between Leyland Motors, Ltd., and A. V. Roe (Canada), under which the Canadian Car and Foundry Co., a subsidiary of Avro, would shortly begin to build, sell and distribute Leyland vehicles in Canada.
Leyland Motors are also to supply A. V. Roe (Canada) with a wide range of oil engines, and to assist with technical information.
Mr. Crawford Gordon, president of Avro, said that the agreement with Leyland was part of a broad plan to expand into the road transport industry.
Sir Henry Spurrier, managing director of Leyland Motors, Ltd., returned last Friday from a world tour. Canada was his last port of call. No statement had been issued by the company when The Commercial Motor closed for press.
DEATH OF DODGE DIRECTOR
WEregret to announce the death of M R. CECIL BENI ON THOMAS, vicepresident and director of the Chrysler Corporation and president of the Chrysler Export Corporation, both of the U.S.A., and director of the two British companies, Chrysler Motors, Ltd., and Dodge Bros. (Britain), Ltd. Mr. Thomas. who was a frequent visitor to Britain, died suddenly in Detroit on Monday at the age of 61.
