ALD. FRANK JAMIESON has been re-elected chairman of Preston Passenger Transport Committee.
MR, SIDNEY A. WALE has been appointed managing director of C. Lindley and Co., Ltd. He succeeds MR. THOMAS F. NAsu, who continues as chairman and technical director.
THE HON. E. P. OKOYA, Minister of Transport of the Eastern Regional Government of Nigeria, has had to postpone his visit to England until after June 26. He was to have arrived last Sunday.
MR. R. J. ELLERY has been elected a director, and appointed chairman, of East Midland Motor Services, Ltd., in succession to MR. 3. W. WOMAR, Who has retired. Mr. Ellery was formerly secretary of the B.E.T. group.
Oar. T. F. HOOD, senior partner of Lawrence Gardner and Co., has been appointed chairman of Crypton Equipment, Ltd., in succession to MR. J. G. SHAW. Crypton Equipment is a subsidi,ary company of Lancashire Dynamo Holdings, Ltd.
MR. ALEX J. WEBB has been elected chairman of the Metropolitan Section of the Institute of Transport for 1956-57. The immediate past chairman is MR. G. H. SEARLE. MR. S. G. HEARN, MR. A. WATSON and MR. E. G. WHITAKER are vice-chairmen, MR. A. R. PARSELLE is honorary treasurer, and MR. C. F. KING, honorary secretary.
MR. G. PENFOLD, commercial manager, and MR. G. H. SrEAtzusc, works manager, of the Newton group of companies, have been elected to the board of the three companies comprising the group, Newton and Bennett, Ltd., Power Jacks, Ltd., and Newton Motor Products. The election is in consequence of the recent merger of the Newton Group with Alfred and
Alder. (Engineers), Ltd. Both Mr. Penfold and Mr. Spearing have completed 25 years' service.

MR. A. L. WATERFALL has been reelected chairman of the Yorkshire Region of the Institute of the Motor Industry. MR. FRANK LOCKWOOD has been re-elected honorary secretary and MR. P. R. BAUGH, honorary treasurer.
MR. LAURENCE F. Lysol, who, as reported in The Commercial Motor on June 1, has been appointed general secretary of the new Licensed Road Transport Association, of Dublin. had a distinguished career in banking before he joined the motor trade. In 1953 he was appointed organizing secretary of the Irish Licensed Haulage Contractors Association. He is regarded as an expert on transport law.
MR. P. R. Scum managing director of Tecalemit. Ltd., has left by air to visit the U.S.A. and Canada. He is seeking to expand Tecalemit's business in those countries and will deal with production problems arising from the opening of the new factory in Rexdale, Toronto. MR. S. C. KENNETT, formerly supervisor, has been appointed assistant regional sales manager of Tecalemit's northern region, Ma. A. JEFFERIES has become accessories representative in that region.
Ma, H. M. LAWRENCE has been appointed materials handling, transport and coal manager of the Southern Gas Board. He thus resumes a direct connection with road transport which had been partly severed during the past seven years. Mr. Lawrence was transport manager of the Gas Light and Coke Co. from 1934 until just before the gas industry was nationalized. He then became assistant general manager of the Portsmouth and Gosport Gas Co., and on vesting day, he assumed the position of general manager of the Portsmouth, Gosport and Bognor Regis Gas Undertaking. During his long career in transport he has held many public offices. He was a member of the research committee of the former Institution of Automobile Engineers and an original member of the Producer Gas Committee on Alternative Fuels.
