Two people were crushed to death when an HGV ploughed into a car at traffic lights and shunted it into another truck on Monday 112 May). The accident occurred on the A1079 at Wilberfoss, near York, at around 12:20hrs. Police say a yellowcoloured Leyland Oaf rigid came to a stop at temporary traffic lights, followed by a black Slcoda car which pulled up behind it. A white DFDS Food Transport atilt., travelling behind the car, then collided with it and killed the 32-year-old Skoda driver and his passenger, a 62-year-old man, instantly.
The 47-year-old DFDS truck driver from Grimsby was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and later released on police bail.
