THE ROAD HAULAGE Association (RHA) is demanding the next government tackle the crumbling infrastructure in the 11. -and that foreign hauliers contribute to the costs.
Speaking at the RHA annual lunch, chairman Andy Boyle said: -Building new roads will
have to get on the agenda again. The economy's in a parlous state, so I suggest we enlist all those foreign trucks that use our roads in ever-increasing numbers at absolutely no cost to themselves to come to the party and pay."
1-le condemned Labour's thinking on capital allowances: "Life's a bitch and then they tell us that we need to be greener.
"Reducing capital allowances and increasing fuel duty to an industry that is largely unprofitable seems to he a strange way to encourage us to invest in new technology.
