NORTH WESTERN Trafic Commissioner (TC) Beverley Bell has revoked the O-licence of a Stockport operator who allowed her disqualiied partner to use a truck to transport goods for another company.
At a hearing the TC was told that Linda Coffey, of Denton, had let Carl Hutchinson carry out a job in February 2011, despite the licence allowing only her to use the vehicle for her own business.
Hutchinson was disqualiied in June 2008 after a VOSA oficer found he was not maintaining his vehicles properly. HM Revenue & Customs also discovered that he had used laundered fuel in his vehicles, and he was made bankrupt.
In October 2010, Hutchinson had a vehicle impounded by VOSA and was discovered to have breached the terms of his disqualiication.
Bell said Coffey – authorised for one vehicle and trailer – had effectively lost control of her business and allowed her partner to take over.
“She also breached the terms of her licence by permitting the vehicle to be used to transport goods for another company when it only covered her own business.
“This inquiry should act as a warning to operators who are thinking of lending their licences to individuals that I, or another commissioner, have disqualiied from running vehicles,” she said.
