WORKERS AT MATTHEW Clark Wholesale’s Runcorn depot have settled their pay dispute with management. The conflict, which saw a day of industrial action on 22 August, involved 21 drivers and drivers’ mates, all members of the United Road Transport Union (URTU).
The union members had been unhappy with the company’s offer of a 2.5% pay increase and an extra day’s holiday (for this year only).
However, after a meet ing with management last week (7 September) they voted to accept the settlement with a £100 bonus, due originally in February, to be received now. The deal was not recommended to members by URTU.
