its new three-year pay deal for truck drivers in the West Midlands as "revolutionary". It was reached in light of the possible implications of the Working Time Directive. The new deal, which gives drivers of vehicles over 30 tonnes 25 an hour, is based on a flat-rate payment for the first 50 hours. Overtime will attract a premium of 21 an hour.
"We feel this is an agreement worthy of the millennium," says T&G regional officer Hugh Lowry.
