AN interesting 20-seater demonstration coach has just been completed by Messrs. W. L. Thurgood, Park Road, Ware, Herts, to the order of John I. Thornycroft and Co., Ltd. The roomy body is carried on a Thornycroft Speedy six-cylinder chassis, and the bodybuilders believethat this is the first occasion on which a chassis of this type has been used for coach purposes.
At the front, on the near side, a curved sliding door is employed, this running outside the body in a special track and having a bent glass. Thus the use of a sliding door at the front has not prevented the body from having a tapered near-side panel merging with the dash and providing a smart appearance.
The Thus-good patent opening roof is incorporated in the design, whilst the four-panelled windscreen embodies top and bottom sections made to open. The windscreen and visor above it are Cox products. The seats and "rock
ing "-type drop windows are of Peters manufacture' the Colt ventilators and collapsible bulkhead blind being of similar make.
Beelawat louvres are employed above certain of the windows, and the interior roof and the under surfaces of the parcels racks are lined with Rexine, whilst special Ferodo step edging is fitted along the entrance steps and doorways. The driver's seat, which incorporates Leveroll patent mechanism, is made to slide and tilt.
The exterior and interior are tastefully furnished and the vehicle has a striking appearance. The machine has been equipped in a lavish manner and it should create a good impression with operators, to whom the coach is already being demonstrated.
