• A coroner has slammed the drivers of three trucks who failed to stop when a woman died in an horrific crash on the A5 in Shropshire.
All three lorry drivers left the scene of the accident on the A5 at Wolfs Head, Nesscliffe, before police arrived. None of them have been traced.
According to evidence given at the inquest, Oswestry hospice carer Pauline Evans' car spun out of control and hit another car as she approached two trucks which had pulled up
to allow a third lorry to emerge from a layby.
David Crawford Clarke, coroner for mid and north-west Shropshire, heard that none of the lorry drivers had been traced by police. He said he was appalled that they had simply driven away. "I am disgusted by their deplorable and irresponsible attitude," he said.
