OPINIONS on delays at Dover docks given by drivers in a new survey of British ports carried out by the Continental Freight Drivers' Club are to be used to speed up clearance at the port.
The survey reveals that Customs procedures result in 42 per cent of the delays caused at the port — and those delays are claimed to be up to 168 hours in a very few cases.
But this week Dover's director of operations, Donald Soppitt, told CM "the response to the survey was rather small and it's rather difficult conclusions from it.
"Most of the peop replied to this will ha the ones who have t experiences in clear ports," said Mr Soppitt He added that showed in a bad ligh compared with other p cause it handled more — particularly at night And he said that w criticisms had been vu drivers they wou examined by the Dove our Board to see operation could be spel at all.
