• Daihatsu is recalling more than 3,000 of its Hijet vans and pickups because of a potential problem with the fuel injection system.
A fracture in the diesel fuel rail of 1.2-litre engines is possible in units supplied between October 1995 and January 1998. Daihatsu says the fault is rare, but allows fuel into the lubrication system, raising the sump oil level and causing the engine to run "in an unregulated manner".
None of the 3,113 vehicles potentially affected have been in accidents as a result of the fault, which can lead to loss of driver control, says the company. Petrol-engined units and Hijet MPVs are unaffected.
