One of The Hawk's eagle-eyed correspondents spotted this splendid exarmy vehicle unloading timber at a workshop in Mitcham, South London.. The former British Army forward-control 101 was supplied to Paul Buck, boss of Richmond-based timber supplier Buck & Sons, by Avon Land Rover Specialists, Bristol. Buck has been running the 25year-old unit for four years and says it is 'ideal for the job".
He had it converted to run on LPG by Millennium Gas Conversions in Bagshot, a firm capable of converting vehicles large and small. The £950 cost of the conversion was soon recovered—LPG costs 35p a litre compared to about 80p for petrol. Buck & Sons can be contacted on 0181 878 5588.
