THE OWNER of a popular transport cafe in Wales is fighting eviction following a complaint from a local resident.
Former trucker Patricia Davies will present a 300-signature petition to Carmarthen County Council this week in support of her right to continue trading beside the A485 between Lampeter and Carmarthen.
She says her mobile cafe, which opened 18 months ago, is a boon to truckers because she understands theirjob: "I have been on the road for a number of years with my own truck until I gave up driving to look after my children."
Mother-of-six Davies says police have already threatened to evict her from the site in Llanllwni but she stood her ground.
The future of the business, Wyn's Catering, will probably be decided once ownership of the site she operates from is clarified.
A spokeswoman for DyfedPowys Police says: "If she is not obstructing the highway we have no reason to take any action." Carmarthen County Council's assistant solicitor Alan Evans says: "We are investigating the position and are considering the courses of action available to us."
