Potential business in and around Bedford is driving British Car Auctions to build a El Om, 25-acre 'supementre' in Bedford, replacing its car auction site. When the supercentre opens in late summer it will feature CV auctions.
Construction has already started at the former brickworks near M1/J13 and 14. Facilities will include two auction halts and an HGV area for 120 vehicles. The move will create 100 jobs.
BCA is introducing CV auctions to supply the wealth of building and haulage companies in the area. UK operations director Simon Henstock says this is the biggest greenf laid development for the auction market since BCA opened its Nottingham site in 1994.
He adds: 'The centre will be in one of the most accessible and strategically important locations in the country and will form a major component in the on-going development of BCAs nationwide framework."
