Taymix Transport pulls 0-licence application following RHA objection
DEATH CRASH HAULIER Taymix Transport has withdrawn its application for a new 0-licence.
The company, based in Pimperne, Dorset, had been due to attend a public inquiry (PI) in Bristol on 14 December where the Traffic Commissioner would have considered a new application from the firm for 12 trucks and 20 trailers, In February, Western IC Sarah Bell revoked the previous 0-licence of Taymix Transport and related company Translact, following a PI in Bristol.
Bell said the firms had demonstrated a total lack of professional competence and that their Systems for checking drivers' hours had completely broken down.
The PI followed a fatal accident in 2007,
when two people in a car were killed in a collision with a Translact vehicle.
It later transpired that the truck driver, Maciej Snygiecki, had been at the wheel for 16 hours without a break.
The RHA lodged an objection to the application with the Western TC's office under Section 12.1(a) of the Goods Vehicles (Licensing of Operators) Act.
Mike Farmer, RHA regional director, says: "The RHA has a policy of objecting to licence applications where it feels that it is reasonable to do so on the grounds of available evidence.
"We have achieved our aim and are pleased the application has been withdrawn,"
No one from Taymix was available to comment.
