VORTY-FIVE units with premises, I including 1,167 vehicles and 147 trailers, are contained in List SI, which was published on Wednesday by the British Transport Commission. Tenders have to' be submitted by September 15. The smallest unit contains four vehicles, but most of them are of 10 and upwards.
The largest comprises a depot at Littleniore, Oxford, with 200 vehicles and 49 trailers. The unit is situated in the. centre of the industrial area at
Cowley. The fleet includes six sixwheeled, 94 four-wheeled and 100 articulated vehicles, Many of them are equipped to carry car bodies. Other types include vans, sided lorries and tippers. In addition to 49 drawbar trailers, there are 182 semi-trailers.
Another big unit is at Thatcham, Berks, on the main Bath Road. There are 85 vehicles, plus four spares, and 20 trailers, with two spares. The fleet includes 16 eight-wheeled, 15 sixwheeled and 54 four-wheeled vehicles. In addition, there is a recovery outfit, Coles mobile crane and a Lodormobile.

A FIRM who failed to renew. their
B licence in 1949 and had operated until a few weeks ago without one obtained another from the Northern Licensing Authority last week.
Mr. F. Milton, for the applicants, Messrs. .1, Bowman and Sons, Kirkheaton, cattle hauliers, explained that the partnership comprised a father and two sons. The father had looked after the administrative side of the business while the sons drove the vehicles, but the sons had to take over when he became ill. He was now 84.
They discovered that their father had failed to renew the licence in 1949. They took the vehicle off the road and applied for a new licence.
