• Mr A. B. Birnie, the Scottish Traffic Commissioner, approved proposals on Monday put to him at Perth by W. Alexander (Midland) Ltd, to reduce bus services between Aberfoyle and Kinlochard from August 16.
Mr J. M. Begg, traffic manager for Alexander, said he had met representatives of Perth county council and they agreed with the company's proposals. The council did not intend to take advantage of legislation which permitted local authorities to subsidize uneconomic bus services, he added.
Objectors included a pensioner who said he might be isolated from his daughter and grandchildren unless the county council agreed to subsidize the buses. Representations were also made by a Kinlochard woman who organized a petition against the cuts.
Mr Birnie said he would allow the objectors time to put their views to Perth county council. At present there are four daily return journeys on weekdays between Aberfoyle and Kintochard. three return journeys on Saturdays, and two return journeys on Sundays.
