MEMBERS OF a gang of truck thieves have been jailed for a total of 13 years for stealing a truck containing £500 worth of clothing in Luton.
David Fielding, Anthony Joyce and brothers Paul and David Atkinson were each jailed for 39 months for their part in the plot.
Northampton Crown Court was told that in February 2004 the gang was stopped in the Brackmills industrial estate where they were found with two-way radios.rubber gloves, bolt cutters and hard hats.
They denied committing any offence at Brackmills but were later charged following their admissions to similar offences in Luton.
Sentencing, Judge Richard Bray said:"Deterrent sentences are neeessary here to deter people like you who prey on valuable cargoes."
