Used vehicle dealers are becoming choosier about the type of stock they are buying in, according to Glass's Guide.
George Alexander, chief commercial vehicle editor at Glass's Guide, reports that in recent months .ndependent dealers have become far more ;elective about the type and quality of used :-..."Vs they deal in.
This is due to increased volumes of used an on the market, "as well as the stiff :.ompetition that independents now face '.rom manufacturer used vehicle schemes where only higher quality stock is presented.
"It is apparent that some popular vans -Tom Mercedes-Benz, Renault,Ford,Fiat Hid number of others are now returning :rom contract in significant volumes, and hese numbers are certain to grow further," he adds. "Hopefully the strength of the used market will hold up over the summer and these vans will sell at the first time of asking.
"It would not be an attractive prospect for the trade to go into the autumn with a surplus of late-year stock."
Alexander also reports that the used light van market has become less predictable, with strong weeks followed by a slump—he expects this situation to continue as the holiday season starts up.
