A SOUTH YORKSHIRE haulier who was jailed for trying to cover up after a fatal accident by falsifying maintenance records has lost his appeal against the revocation of his 0-licence and his indefinite ban from holding a licence in any Traffic Area (CM 3 March).
Paul Duckmanton, trading as Cartrans, of Rotherham. held an international licence authorising 32 vehicles and 32 trailers. He was sentenced to eight months' impris onment on two counts of attempting to pervert the course of justice.
His workshop manager,Terence Gleadall was sentenced to four months' imprisonment on similar charges and the driver of the vehicle involved in the accident, Michael Roberts, to 12 months' imprisonment for manslaughter.
The Tribunal concluded that Duclornanton could not be trusted, and theTC was not wrong to find he was not fit to be in the industry.
