• The chairman of the Transport Association, Mr A. C. Noakes, and the guest speaker, Conservative MP Mr Robert Taylor, both had harsh things to say about training boards at the TA lunch this week.
Mr Taylor, while welcoming some aspects of the new Manpower Services Commission, deplored the continuation of industrial training boards, which he considered harmful to industry.
Mr Noakes, of Grantham Road Services Ltd, alleged that the RTITB was "in a complete mess" and several TA members added their criticisms of the levy system.
