SCANIA DEALER Keltruck will be squaring up to Vosa in court over whether an operator's licence is required when taking customers' trailers to test stations.
The test case, centring on the unauthorised use of trade plates when pulling a trailer for annual test preparation, will be heard at Leicester magistrates court on 27 April. Ford & Warren transport lawyer Stephen Kirkbright will be defending the West Midlands dealer.
Vosa believes repairers and dealers using their vehicles to take customers' trailers to test stations must have an 0-licence as well as trade plates (CM 18 August 2005).
But Keltruck maintains that trade plates are there for the motor trade to move vehicles legitimately around for test.
