HIRE-PURCHASE commitments amounting to £200 a month were blamed for a haulage company's failure to pay their employees' National Insurance contributions before Dundee Sheriff Court last week.
Andrew Scott and Sons, Barns of Claverhouse, Dundee, were fined £75, and each partner was fined £15 for not paying contributions as self-employed persons.
Mr. A. M. Wanless, defending, said that the business had been strained When more than £6,000 had to be found to pay for four vehicles to replace lorries purchased from British Road Services. All due payments had now been made.
