QPECIALLY adapted Bedford 4 x 4 I-) tankers will be used.by Shell-Mex and B.P., Ltd., to supply all the fuel and lubricants needed in constructing the first stage of the new Maidstonc.by-pass (The Commercial Motor, last week). The company have set up the same " commando " fuelling system as they are using on the London-Birmingham motorway.

The Bedfords have their own pumping and metering equipment and can dispense gas oil as required. They carry 950 gal. Other vehicles will deliver derv, motor spirit and lubricants.

When the work is at its peak—construction will go on round the clock after the first few weeks—Shell-Mex will be delivering about 5,000 gat. a day of gas oil and other fuel to the constructional plant.
