The Institute of Road Transport Engineers is thinking of dropping the word "road" from its title and widening its activities to include the other transport modes which have no specific professional organization for their engineering staffs. When the president, Mr. G. E. Liardet, revealed in Birmingham on Friday that the national council was considering this move he also said that the first word in the title might also be changed, to make the new body the Institution of Transport Engineers.
