Called the Elf 750 the hoist is a manually operated portable unit using a link chain. Weighing 15Ib overall, it has a safe workingload capacity of 15cwt and is particularly suitable for lifting engines out of vehicle chassis. Every unit is tested to 50 per cent overload before leaving the works. The hooks are fitted with safety catches, which also warn of severe overloading.
The between-hooks headroom required is 10-kin. and this enables it to be used in confined spaces. It is supplied with a length of special high-strength chain, a brake to hold the load at any point and a hand-wheel to enable the chain to be run through quickly when not under load.
A 30cwt model with reduction gear and a 3-ton model with reduction gear and crosshead are also available.
