• Brake manufacturer haldex is offering operators the ability to access live data about their trailer braking system via a mobile phone or radio link.
The company's EB+ electronic braking system was launched at last year's CV Show: at this year's show the firm demonstrated an improved system, with the ability to link up (via the CAN communication bus) to third-party GSM communication and CPS location systems, as well as other radio frequency systems.
These third-party systems can also be powered via the ISO 7638 connector, so they do not require a separate power supply. The Ell+ circuitry prioritises power distribution to ensure that the most vital systems remain active.
Haldex has also uprated its Info Centre diagnostic display: as well as the existing ABS version, there is now a variant specifically designed to operate with EB+. The trailermounted LCD display shows total distance travelled, trip distance, service interval, distance to nest service and detailed fault codes for the braking system.
The firm also launched its two-piece trailer disc brake with the latest modular design.
