,4.:3 City & Guilds is one of three awarding bodies for qualifications involving HGV technicians. National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs) or Scottish Vocational Qualifications (SVQs) both operate at levels 2 and 3.
Candidates for the qualifications must be able to demonstrate competent practical performance across a wide range of HGV maintenance and repair activities and pass a series of externally set and marked examinations to prove that they possess the underpinning knowledge of HGV technology, systems and diagnostic and repair techniques. These qualifications form an integral part of Modern Apprenticeship Frameworks.
Typically, candidates do on and off the job training for between two and three years at level 2, and three years for level 3.
Public funding is available for these qualifications, either in their own right or as part of the Modern Apprenticeship Frameworks. Contact: City & Guilds on 020 7294 2800; vnyw.city-and-guilds.co.uk.
