A rookie bus driver has been emulating his TV namesake. On his second day in the job for First Glasgow, Barry James Bean got lost and ended up causing chaos in a Lanarkshire side street. Misunderstanding directions from a passenger, this Mr Bean succeeded in wedging his vehicle in a narrow street and compounding his error by attempting to reverse out. Residents of Tollbrae Avenue, Airdrie, watched in horror as the single
decker inched past their windows pranging cars, bumping into lamp posts and knocking over garden fences. When the angry householders confronted Mr Bean he apologised, explaining it was only his second day on the job. Luckily when they heard his name they managed to see the funny side. As local resident Tom McFarlane relates: "It was chaos, but we couldn't keep our faces straight when he said he was Mr Bean."
