• A couple left physically and mentally scarred by a horrific crash in which their stationary van was struck by a lorry, came away with nothing From a High Court bid for compensation.
Andrew Dingle, 47, suffered fractures to an arm and leg, two cracked ribs and head injuries in the impact on a motorway in March 1992. Judge Mrs Justice Smith described his injuries as "very severe", but said he had since made a "remarkable although incomplete recovery".
His wife, Maggie, 46, was physically unscathed but suffered the anguish of seeing her husband lying motionless on the road.
The Dingles had sued the vehicle owner, Sid Knowles Transport, of Antron Hillmabe, Cornwall and its lorry's driver, James Pascoe, of St Clements Close, Truro. Both defendants were found not liable.
