• Irish drivers can now access an Internet website that tells them where speed traps are on Irish roads, and just what the latest equipment in use by Irish police is capable of.
The site lists details of static radar locations in the Republic, and in Northern Ireland.
More than 16,000 visits have been logged on the website since mid-May. It's updated by drivers e-mailing information on speed traps observed around the country,
A spokesperson for the National Safety Council says publishing such information is wrong because it assists speeding drivers to avoid detection.
And while the NSC is unhappy, the police say the website is not Mega!, and that in any case mobile speed traps are just that and can turn up anywhere.
The cheeky site operators have included links to the NSC website, and even to the official police website.
