Loss of steel contract forces Deepcar Transport to close
LOSING A significant steel distribution contract has forced Deepcar Transport in Sheffield into voluntary liquidation.
The company's creditors petitioned for the business to enter liquidation on 26 November. Andrew Philip Wood and John Russell of The P&A Partnership were appointed as joint liquidators.
"The company lost a major steel contract in Sheffield. which had a 2 knock-on effect on the 11 business, and it was difficult to replace [it] with a; other work," Wood says. He adds that the majority of Deepcar's truck and trailer fleet was sold at an auction on 2 December, and he expects creditors to get some of their money back.
Approximately 25 employees were made redundant as a result of the liquidation.
Wood says: "Hauliers are not being helped by the government at all at the moment. We are having to give more and more advice to hauliers these days. You have to wonder who will move goods around the country at this rate."
