• Vauxhall is fitting a new engine to the Astravan range which it claims can achieve more than 70mpg.
The latest 1.7DTi 16-valve engine is a direct-injection turbo-diesel producing 74hp at 4,400rpm and 165Nm at 1,800rpm-33Nm more than its predecessor.
Vauxhall claims that as well as improving fuel efficiency by more than 26%, it has managed to cut emissions by more than 20% to produce the lowest CO2 output in the range. Buyers have a choice of Envoy or LS trim with on-road prices of £10,520 and £11,620 (ex-VAT).
